Why are people online?

eMarketer ran another good article recently titled why people go online. The article is based on findings that where conducted by PR firm Ruder Finn.

Perhaps the most relevant piece that I took away as a marketer was from Ruder Finn’s co-CEO Kathy Bloomgarden, who stated “Delving deeper into the underlying motivations of online behavior is critical to developing proactive strategies.” Understanding what actually drives users, not just bombarding them with what we want them to see will provide increased conversion. It is all about providing your users with relevant information – makes sense doesn’t it?

Here are the findings.
