Mobile Marketing Opportunities…with RIM

We all know what a great success the iPhone has been and how much money Apple has been making off the App store, but what about RIM? Blackberry applications don’t have the same easy-to-use functionality that the Apple applications have. Part of this is due to the screen size and operating system, but a more significant factor is the type of users. Blackberry users typically have been business users, where as many iPhone buyers are casual users. That being said, many “business” users do have a demand for recreational applications, such as the ones that you find on the iPhone.

There are rumors that RIM is integrating full Flash and Microsoft Silverlight support into their BlackBerry web browser. This means not only greater functionality for end-users, but also greater revenue potential. This coupled with the new BlackBerry OS 5.0, which is rumored to be coming out later this year or early 2010 could propel RIM, which is already the fastest growing company in the world to higher profits.

This all equates to huge revenue potential from an advertising and marketing standpoint for Blackberry.
