Matt Cutts of Google Talks SEO

I have spent a considerable amount of time this blog. With that in mind, I feel I should spend some time learning about how I can better attract more relevant users. Recently, I came across Google’s Matt Cutts, who talk about SEO for bloggers.

I spent close to an hour watching this, and I found it very relevant and intriguing. Below where my key take-away’s:

  • SEO is all about relevance and reputation. What you say on your blog and what others say that link to you.
  • If you don’t love something, don’t write about it. You have to have something that you care about to write about it. If you are not doing that, you are not going to do as good a job.
  • If you write often, you need to write good stuff.
  • Keywords – Think about all the different ways that someone would describe something. Think about ways to naturally incorporate all terms into your post, to make it sound natural.
  • Jargon mismatch – what will a regular user say, then incorporate it into your post so you can be found.
  • Ask for feedback, friends and regular people  – what do they thank about your content.
  • Importance of title,  URL,  H1 tags and others. Using keywords in the URL.
  • Be interesting!
  • Update often, aim for daily!
  • Katamari, start small and then build-up. You have to get there gradually. There are no short-cuts, start out with a smaller niche and build on it.
  • Always be positive!
